Global Outreach Program - Summer 2008
Shirati, Tanzania
Cost: $4500 for 3 weeks. This Includes the air travel, land
transportation, room and board, and travel through Serengeti National
Park.
We believe that the cost of the entire trip is tax deductible, but
you should consult with a tax advisor to make sure that this applies
to your situation.
There will be two travel groups this Summer:
• Group 1 leaves on June 14 or 15, 2008, and returns on July 7
• Group 2 leaves on July 4 and returns on July 28
Both groups arrive in Arusha, Tanzania, instead of Nairobi, Kenya, as
originally planned. Because of the current unrest in Kenya, it seems
safer not to plan on arriving in Nairobi and then making a long drive
to the border with TanzaniaBoth groups arrive in Arusha, Tanzania. Arusha is near Kilimanjaro.
The drive from Arusha to Shirati goes through the Serengeti, the great
game preserve, so both on the way to Shirati and coming back, there
will be an opportunity to see the wild animals the Serengeti is famous
for..
If you are interested in traveling with one of the groups, please
contact us and submit an application. Once your application is
accepted, you will be asked to send an immediate deposit of $500 to
reserve a place. Shortly after that, you will need to pay for your
trip in full. The travel groups are limited in size, and there is
very little space left.
You can have others donate to AISCS on your behalf and we will count
their donation towards the cost of your trip. Your donors will need to
specify that they are making a contribution on your behalf.
They can
do this
by going to the AISCS Donation page.
Please contact us at info@aiscs.org, if you would like more information about the trip. Let us know if you would like us to
contact you by phone.

Mills College, Oakland, CA
Dr. Chirangi, a visiting pediatrician from Tanzania and a board member of AISCS’ vocational school spoke at Mills College. Dr. Chirangi travels from home to home treating the elderly, orphans of HIV and those who cannot afford hospital fees. He works in very harsh conditions with little equipment. Dr. Chirangi shared his experiences with aspiring medical professionals and those interested in the AISCS global outreach program, under which volunteers and students travel to Africa and help with community projects.
